City of Koronadal, South Cotabato – The Department of Health – Center for Health and Development (DOH-CHD) XII has chosen Purok San Miguel, Barangay Paraiso, Koronadal City as the site for the construction of its new Regional Office building.  To kick-off the construction phase, a thanksgiving mass and ground-breaking ceremony were held on July 20, 2018 that were attended by the Assistant Secretary of DOH, Dr. Abdullah B. Dumama, Jr., and heads of various line agencies, local government units and representative of Congressman Ferdinand L. Hernandez.

The DOH Regional Office XII was first established in Cotabato City on July 9, 1976 by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 742, Series of 1975, Restructuring the Regional Organization of Mindanao, Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi by then President Ferdinand E. Marcos.  It was further reorganized by the issuance of Executive Orders (EO) 429 and 304.  Likewise, EO 36 designates Koronadal City as the administrative seat of the newly reorganized Region XII.

DOH XII Regional Director Aristides Concepcion Tan said that the 2-hectare land where the new regional building will be erected is strategically located in SOCCSKSARGEN Region and envisioned to serve the provinces of South Cotabato, Cotabato Province, Sultan Kudarat, and Sarangani, and the cities of Cotabato, General Santos, Koronadal, Kidapawan and Tacurong.  A total budget of PhP 146 Million was allocated in CY 2017 for the establishment of the said office building, broken down as follows: lot acquisition amounting to PhP 13 Million and PhP 133 Million for the building construction.

DOH Asec. Dumama shared that the lot acquired is big enough to accommodate a storage facility that would serve as the Mindanao Warehouse of DOH medicines and other commodities since it is easily accessible to Davao City and other neighboring regions.

The Regional Development Council XII has urged all agencies to transfer to Koronadal City to facilitate better services to the region’s stakeholders and to bring government service closer to the people in the area.
